October 30, 2025, Shenzhen – The School of Environment and Energy at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School successfully hosted the "International Conference on Environment and Energy: Exchange and Cooperation" in Classrooms 207-208 of the School of Transnational Law. The event, chaired by Professor Huang Haifeng, Adjunct Professor of the School and International Executive Chairman of the Eco-Development Union, brought together experts, scholars, and young students from universities, research institutes, non-profit organizations, and the business sector. Participants engaged in dynamic discussions on pressing global issues, including environmental challenges, academic publishing, philanthropic partnerships, and youth-led initiatives.

In his opening address, Dean Qin Huapeng highlighted the School's advancements in building robust research platforms, cultivating talent, and fostering international collaboration. He reiterated the School's commitment to driving interdisciplinary studies, enhancing industry-academia-research integration, and expanding its global partnership network to contribute meaningfully to worldwide sustainable development.

A keynote speech titled "Global Environmental Challenges"was delivered by Professor Samuel O. Idowu from the Guildhall School of Business and Law, London Metropolitan University. He provided a comprehensive analysis of the current state and emerging trends in global environmental governance.

Zhang Yingying, Senior Editor from the Springer Nature Beijing Representative Office, conducted a session on "How to Publish High-Impact English Monographs." She offered a systematic overview of the international academic publishing process, sharing practical strategies for success.

Yang Guiping, Chairperson and Co-founder of the Zigen Fund, shared the Foundation's extensive experience and grassroots practices in promoting rural education and ecological development in China. She was joined by Foundation President Gao Zhiyun*and Executive Chairperson Zhang Wenxin, showcasing the organization's collective expertise.

Huang Xiulan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School Education Foundation, detailed the Foundation's key initiatives and strategic development plans. She affirmed its ongoing support for the university's disciplinary development and talent cultivation, reinforcing its role in advancing the School's high-quality growth.

The student perspective was strongly represented by Wei Li, President of the Green+ Association, who shared the club's proactive efforts in promoting a low-carbon culture on campus and organizing various environmental protection activities, underscoring the vital role of student engagement in sustainability.

The conference also included an award ceremony, dedicated networking sessions, and informative tours of the School's laboratories.

The conference established itself as an open and inclusive platform, facilitating meaningful engagement between the School and representatives from the publishing, philanthropic, and industrial sectors. The vital contributions of students to environmental action were also prominently featured. In the future, the School will intensify its focus on international cooperation and cross-sector partnerships, bolstering the global pursuit of sustainable development and ecological civilization.
