Introduction

Qiyong Xu, male, Ph.D., is an associate professor and doctoral supervisor at Peking University. His primary research interests lie in the control of solid waste pollution and its recycling and management. He earned his Doctor of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida in the United States in 2005 and subsequently pursued postdoctoral research, focusing on the recycling and utilization of solid waste. From December 2006 to June 2010, he served as a senior engineer at IWCS in the United States, where he was engaged in environmental engineering design and consulting, holding a professional license as a Registered Environmental Engineer in the U.S. In July 2010, he returned to China and has been teaching and conducting research at the Shenzhen Graduate School of Peking University.

Research Interests

Urban solid waste pollution control and resource technology;  

Organic waste treatment and resource utilization: kitchen waste, wood waste;

Bioreactor landfills, landfill pollution site remediation;

Malodor pollution control and greenhouse gas emission reduction technologies.

Comprehensive Demonstration of the Whole Chain Technology for Intensive Disposal of Domestic Waste in Shenzhen Based on Classification (2018YFC1902900).

Research and Demonstration on Circular Transformation of Organic Waste and Regenerative Resource Utilization Park.

Academic Contributions

He serves as the director of the Shenzhen Regenerative Composite Environmental Materials Engineering Laboratory, leading over 20 scientific research projects. He has published more than 150 papers in domestic and international professional core journals, with over 70 as the first or corresponding author in SCI-indexed journals. He has been granted 8 Chinese invention patents and 1 U.S. invention patent. He serves as the associate editor for Waste Management (Elsevier, IF=8.1) and Environmental Sanitation Engineering (Chinese core journals). He has received the Peking University Outstanding Moral Education Award, the Teaching Excellence Award, and the Outstanding Teacher Award from the Shenzhen Graduate School of Peking University.
